Equuip runs an education and training grant programme for jockeys, both professional and amateur. The grant programme will
allow for a contribution to be made towards the cost of any course or training programme that that a Jockey
may sign up to and is part of the equuip commitment to offering assistance,
financial or otherwise, to help Jockeys to develop their skills and
qualifications for their current role, or to help them prepare for life outside
the saddle.
The course or training programme selected must by accredited by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) or an equivalent body. A full list of applicable QQI accredited courses can be found by going to www.qqi.ie.
The grant programme will operate on a reimbursement basis.
Applicants to the grant programme will be required to apply, enrol, and pay any
fees due for their selected course themselves. Equuip will then reimburse part of
this fee upon submission of the completed application form. The grant will be
paid in two tranches: 50% at the commencement of the course and 50% upon
successful completion.
There are some terms and conditions, but not too many. For full details you can download the application form here, you can ring Elaine Burke on 087340109, or you can email [email protected].
It is never too late to learn a new skill and it can really pay in the long term to acquire additional skills while you are still
riding.
