KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and push horses into starting stalls, blindfolding horses if instructed and closing rear gates.
  • Assist in the stalls test prior to race start.
  • Assist in the movement of starting stalls on racedays, the closing of gates and make any changes to the numbers on starting stalls.
  • Comply with all reasonable requests made by the IHRB Starter and Racecourse Executive in relation to stalls branding.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Racing Services Manager or his/her designate who may be assigned from time to time.  

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Good working knowledge of thoroughbred racehorses and associated tack.
  • Confidence of working with thoroughbred horses.
  • Alertness and awareness of surrounding circumstances.
