'FROM FOAL TO RACE' TRANSITION YEAR PROGRAMME

This 12-week equine-focused module presents TY students with a comprehensive overview of the horse racing and breeding industry in Ireland, with a strong focus on increasing awareness of the careers featured throughout the foal to race journey. Some of the highlighted careers include riding, digital marketing and stallion nominations.

Throughout the programme, both the teachers and students will gain insight into the horse racing industry, including the role of stud farms and animal welfare, and other regulations of the sector. This programme is designed by Equuip and Agri Aware to be relevant to those who already have some knowledge of horse racing as well as anyone completely new to the industry. All students need is an interest (and hopefully a passion) for horses!

The programme features topics relevant to the Leaving Certificate cycle in the areas of biology, business, agricultural science, design and communication. This interdisciplinary approach reflects the real-world application of school-taught subjects in a flexible and engaging format.
