28/08/2026

Equuip will host a special online webinar on Thursday 10 September at 6.30pm, focusing on mental health and the importance of recognising and responding to the pressures experienced by people working across the racing industry.

‘The Weight We Carry: Protecting Mental Health in the Racing Industry’ will explore some of the challenges that can come with a career in racing, including long hours, financial pressures, performance expectations, physical demands and the responsibility of caring for animals.

The webinar will focus on practical, positive ways to protect mental wellbeing, helping participants to recognise signs of stress early, build resilience and feel better equipped to support colleagues and friends.

Leading the session will be Barbara Louise Brennan, workplace mental health authority, multi-award winner, suicide survivor and founder of Mental Health Matters. Combining professional expertise with lived experience, Barbara will offer practical insights into managing pressure and creating a culture where conversations about mental health can happen earlier and more openly.

Equuip Industry Health and Wellbeing Lead  Stacey McDonnell commented: “The wellbeing of our people is fundamental to the future of Irish racing. We want to encourage a culture where looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health, and where people feel comfortable reaching out when they need support. This webinar is an opportunity to start those conversations, share valuable insights and remind everyone across the industry that support is available.”
